The Nigerian Bar Association, Kaduna Branch is a professional, non-profit body comprised of qualified legal practitioners admitted to the Nigerian Bar.
As one of the 125 branches of the NBA’s national network, we represent lawyers practicing within the Kaduna Judicial Division and serve as a leading advocate for the rule of law and good governance in northern Nigeria.
Our mission is to promote and protect human rights, strengthen legal practice standards, and support access to justice for all. We engage in professional development, civic education, and collaborative efforts to enhance the integrity of the legal system. Our Branch is widely regarded as the Premier Bar of the North, distinguished by active participation in legal reform and community outreach.

Overview
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is the umbrella professional association of all lawyers called to the Nigerian Bar. Its core purpose is first and foremost the promotion and protection of the welfare and well-being of all its members, promotion and protection of the rule of law, human rights, legal professionalism, and good governance in Nigeria. At the national level, the NBA is made up of three sections, many forum, and 132 branches across the country.
The NBA Kaduna Branch is one of the active and influential branches, located in Kaduna State. It comprises lawyers who situate their principal place of practice within the Kaduna Judicial Division of the High Court of Justice of Kaduna State, and it is often referred to as the “Premier Bar of the North” and also the “Courageous Bar”
History & Role
- The NBA has branches in the major High Court Judicial Division of the various states in Nigeria, including Kaduna State.
- While there is no any documented or a widely published full historical account of the evolution of the Kaduna Branch of the NBA either in print media or online, the Kaduna Branch has long been active in professional development, legal advocacy, and public engagement within its area of coverage.
- It often leads discussions and activities around legal reforms, public policy, ethics, and the rule of law in northern Nigeria through its flagship events like Annual Law Week, Annual Bar Dinners, etc.
Leadership
The branch elects its officers to serve on a biennial basis (every 2 years), as is provided for in the NBA Constitution and Uniform Bye Laws made pursuant to the constitution for regulation of the Branches.

Key Activities & Events
Law Week
- The NBA Kaduna Branch’s Law Week is its flagship annual professional event — usually held between May and June. It includes discussions, seminars, lectures, and programs focused on legal development, ethics, justice, and public interest issues.
Professional Engagement
- The branch engages on issues of anti-corruption, law reform, and cooperation with national agencies — for example, partnering with the EFCC in support of anti-graft initiatives.
- Specialized subgroups such as the NBA Women Forum (Kaduna Chapter) organize webinars and programs for targeted professional development.
